The turtle is used in many American Indian designs. It represents North America, which is often referred to as Turtle Island. Traditional stories tell how and why our continent was formed on the shell of a turtle which emerged from the primeval ocean. Jason hand forms this turtle and feather pendant from sterling silver. He then sets a polished turquoise stone in the turtle's back, and adds an oxblood coral nugget to the feather. The pendant is hung on a 26 inch sterling silver chain with a sterling silver clasp.
